Jefferson Rice, Board Chair is a furniture designer/builder in Sebastopol and San Francisco and has been the Treasurer of Cedars Family Association and an officer with Disability Trust Services since 2001. Jefferson joined the Cedars Board in 2002 and served as Secretary from 2004 to 2009 when he took the chair. His sister, May, has been a Cedars client since she entered the day program as a five-year old in 1960 and became a resident in 1963. Jefferson is an alumnus of UC Berkeley and did graduate work in English literature at Tulane. He volunteers with Art for Life, an art auction benefiting Face to Face/Sonoma County AIDS Network.

James Brentano, Board Vice President is a technology executive with a diverse background ranging from Fortune 500 companies to tech startups. He joined the Cedars Board in 2007 as the President of The Cedars Family Association and subsequently as a regular board member now serving as Vice President. James’s connection with Cedars is through his brother Robert, who has lived on the main campus in Ross for a number of years. James lives with his family in Orinda, CA.

Andrew Hinkelman, Board Treasurer, is a certified public accountant and a senior managing director in FTI’s Corporate Finance practice in San Francisco. He has extensive experience representing debtors and creditors in formal bankruptcy and out-of-court restructuring, negotiating financing agreements and performing estate wind-down and trustee related services. He serves on the Cedars Board and the Northern California chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.

Michael Drilling, Board Secretary, is the stepfather of Richard Rousseu, who has been a resident of Cedars for over 30 years. Michael is a retired international transportation executive and has been on the Cedars Board since 2000, currently serving as Chair of the Governance Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. He lives in Millbrae, CA, with his wife, Carrie, and two cats, and lists his favorite avocations as growing orchids, sculpting stone and appreciating fine wine.

Michael Breard works one-to-one with children on the autistic spectrum at Oak Hill School in San Anselmo. Volunteering at the State Special Olympics in college led to both undergraduate and graduate degrees in education with a focus on the developmentally disabled and emotionally disturbed. He worked in a residential therapeutic camping program for emotionally disturbed teenage boys and as both Assistant Principal and Principal at a small private high school serving Learning Disabled students. He served on the Board of St. Hilary School from 1998-2002, two years as the President.

Susan Crocker joined the Cedars Board in 2009. Her sister, Gayle, is a Cedars resident who lives in Novato. Susan is a retired Hewlett Packard executive. A resident of Woodside, she has been a member of the Woodside Town Council and served as Mayor of the Town of Woodside. Susan received a BA degree in Sociology from the UC Berkeley and a Masters degree in Social Policy and Planning from SUNY, Buffalo. She served in the Peace Corps in Chile.

Margie Ellis is an active community volunteer in Ross and has been involved with Cedars since 2002. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Art History and is the mother of four children. She believes that Cedars is a very valuable part of the community and feels fortunate to have an agency like this right here in Ross.

Mary Gordon is a classically trained Homeopath with a private practice in the East Bay and has been a member of the Cedars Board of Directors since 2002. Her past professional experience includes working for many years as a member of the management team at a facility very similar to Cedars. She has served on various non-profit boards and is a founder and the current board president of Caritas Creek, an environmental education program serving elementary school aged children in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Her sister, Jeannie, has been happily living at The Cedars since 1992.

Christine Lindner is a Marin County resident with an extensive background in service to her community having volunteered for many years at the Ross School, Marin General Hospital and the Pacific Medical Center. Christine was a co-founder of the highly successful Ross Valley Women’s League. A graduate of the University of Oregon, Chris had an 18-year career as a Human Resources Vice-President and, with her husband Eric, raised four children, three of whom were adopted.

Steve McDermott is the Vice President of Sales for CloudShare. Most recently, he served as VP of Worldwide Sales at Panasas, where he was responsible for the company's double-digit sales growth. Prior to Panasas, he was the VP of Worldwide Sales for Topio, running the sales organization up to and through the acquisition of the company by NetApp. Before Topio/NetApp, Previously, Steve served in VP of sales and business development leadership roles at Marimba, Legato and other well-known Silicon Valley companies. He holds a BA from UCLA where he majored in Economics.

Jim Peterson has been on the Cedars Board since 2009. Jim's brother, John, has been a Cedars resident since 1970. Jim is a former television executive and currently a private investor. He lives in New York City with his wife and teenage son.

Scott Price is the principal in Scott B. Price and Company, Certified Public Accountants, in San Francisco. Educated at Rutgers University and holding an MBA from San Francisco State, Scott is the Treasurer of both the Rainforest Action Network, Inc. and Perinatal Medical Associates in addition to serving on the Cedars Board.

Michele Ritter lives in Boulder, Colorado, where she works with young Sudanese refugee women, survivors of an ethnic cleansing campaign, who have been resettled in the U.S. She serves on the Music Advisory Board for the University of Colorado’s College of Music and is involved with educational programming and diversity issues in her community. Michele has a long term connection to Cedars through her sister, Lorraine, who has been a resident for the past 25 years.

Anna Anello Rosen co-founded Rosen Realty Group in 1989 with her husband, Mark, and acts as the company’s COO. The company specialized in representing office tenants in leasing transactions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and globally through its partnership in ITRA, the International Tenant Representative Alliance. Prior to launching Rosen Realty Group, Anna practiced real estate and business law for eight years, representing Silicon Valley start-ups and San Francisco real estate ventures. Anna has a B.A. degree from San Jose State University and a juris doctoral degree from Santa Clara University School of Law. She is a native of the Bay Area, as is her sister, Toni, who is a Cedars resident. Anna currently serves as President of the Cedars Family Association. Anna and Toni love to make apricot jam together each July.

Sterling (Terry) Ross has served on the Cedars Board since the late 1980s and as its Chair for more than 10 years. A lawyer, who lives and works in Mill Valley, Terry is the originator of the Special Needs Trust used throughout the country in estate planning for parents with a disabled son or daughter. He’s the former chair of the California State Bar Certified Specialist Advisory Committee in trusts and estates; former chair of the Marin Bar Association Probate and Trust Section; and past president of the Youth Law Center of San Francisco and the Mill Valley Tennis Club. He received a B.A. from Stanford and J.D. from the University of Michigan.

Jeff Stephens has been on the Cedars Board since 2004. Jeff has been in the insurance industry for over twenty years and recently merged his company with Edgewood Partners Insurance Center, (EPIC), one of the fastest growing Insurance Brokerage firms in the world. Jeff specializes in a wide range of insurance programs with over 50 nonprofits and 30 corporate clients. Jeff, his wife, and two young daughters, live in San Anselmo, and enjoy participating in outings with main campus residents.

Edith Tobin is a community volunteer in San Francisco and has been involved with Cedars since 2003. She has a degree in Biology from Brown University. Her three children are her heroes. Her eldest son Charlie is a client of Cedars.
